Days 1 & 2: Mpumalanga, South AfricaAfter a tour briefing, your South Africa tour departs Johannesburg at 06:30am and travels towards Mpumalanga. During the afternoon you visit the gold mining town of Pilgrims Rest, Bourke's Luck Potholes and God's Window.
Your tour continues as you make your way to the Lowveld and set up camp below the escarpment at the majestic Blyde River Canyon. You will spend the next day exploring the canyon on foot. Breakfast is included on one day and lunch and dinner is included on both days. |
Days 3 & 4: Kruger National Park, South AfricaOn day 3 of your South Africa safari, you enter big game country, the Kruger National Park. You will spend the next 2 days on game drives in search of the magnificent Big Five and other animals.
The professional and knowledgeable guides will teach you extensively about the ecology, fauna and flora of the area and the bush. Night game drives with spotlights are available for guests wanting to discover the nocturnal world of the Park (own expense). Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. |
Days 5 & 6: Kingdom of SwazilandToday you enter the Kingdom of Swaziland, traveling through the lush fruit farming area before you head into the mountains of Swaziland. You will spend 2 nights in Malalotja Nature Reserve where you will get a chance to explore the area by foot. Gain insight into the lives of the Swazi people, whose culture and tradition can be experience at the local craft markets you will visit in Mbabane. |
Days 7 & 8: St Lucia, South AfricaToday you cross back into South Africa and head to Zululand. Here you will visit a local Zulu village and learn more about their culture and traditions. You spend the night on the shores of St Lucia - a world heritage site.
The Greater St Lucia Park covers an area of lake lands, forests and beaches. The following day you will journey to Hluhluwe Game Reserve for an exciting day of game drives. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. |
Day 9: North Coast Beaches, South AfricaYour South Africa tour continues along the coastline today, stopping on the north coast of South Africa. You spend the day relaxing on the beach and enjoying the sea, sun and surf. There is also an optional visit to the city of Durban, the Sharks board or a boat trip. Breakfast is included. |
Day 10: Battlefields, South AfricaToday you leave the coastline and make your way through the scenic hills and valleys of Zululand to the quaint town of Dundee. This is where the battles were fought between the Zulus, the British and the Boer troops. You spend some time at Rourke's Drift and Islandwana battlefields with an interesting and informative visit to the Tulana museum. Breakfast and lunch is included. |
Days 11 - 13: Drakensberg, South AfricaYou will spend the next 3 nights of your tour at the base of the Drakensberg Mountains. You spend your days walking the trails along the stream paths and, weather permitting, attempt to walk the summit. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. |
Day 14: Johannesburg, South AfricaYou take your last walk in the mountains before making your way back to Johannesburg. This tour can be combined with the Garden Route Adventure for a complete tour of South Africa. Your tour ends at 18:00pm.

Transport:On foot: There are easy to moderate walking excursions throughout this South Africa tour.
Vehicle: For longer distance travel, custom built safari trucks with 12 forward facing seats are used. These trucks are comfortable and the large slide windows and viewing hatches makes them great for game viewing. A Toyota Hiace with 10 forward facing seats may also be used. |
Difficulty:This South Africa safari is ideal for anyone who is generally active and in good health. Please bear in mind that there are a couple of long driving days, but also plenty of outdoor activity. |
