Day 1: Cape Town, Barrydale, Calitzdorp, Oudtshoorn
Depart Cape Town via Du Toit's Kloof Pass to Worcester and traverse the famous Route 62 passing to the town of Robertson. Visit the towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp where the true diversity of landscapes is highlighted through the ever-changing semi-desert areas to your quaint hotel in Oudtshoorn. Enjoy a hearty dinner served in the elegant dining room famous for its Ostrich fare and fine wines. Accommodation at: De Opstal Country Hotel or similar - dinner, bed and breakfast basis. |
Day 2: Oudtshoorn, Klein Karoo, Knysna
After breakfast, start the day with a visit to the world famous Cango Caves for a fully guided tour. Time permitting an optional tour of the Crocodile and Cheetah Park is also available. Leaving Oudtshoorn visit a local Ostrich farm for a guided tour. Continue over the Outeniqua Pass and experience the sudden contrast of the semi-desert Klein Karoo to indigenous 'Fynbos' vegetation as we approach South Africa's 'oyster capital', Knysna.
After checking into your Waterfront hotel, freshen up for a superb dinner at a local restaurant on the Knysna Waterfront. Accommodation at: Protea Hotel Knysna Quays or similar - dinner, bed and breakfast basis. |
Day 3: Knysna, Mossel Bay, Port Beaufort
After breakfast you have sufficient time to enjoy a boat cruise on the lagoon (not included) or a simple stroll through the village or Waterfront. Enjoy a scenic drive through Wilderness via Dolphin Point to historic Mossel Bay.
Send a postcard to friends or relatives from the famous Post Office Tree before visiting the Diaz and Maritime Museums with relics of famous explorers. Our tour continues to Port Beaufort where the mighty Breede River meets the mysterious Indian Ocean. Upon arrival at the your lodge, freshen up for a delectable dinner featuring Cape Country cuisine. The Ostrich (struthio camelus) is a member of a group of birds known as ratites, flightless birds without a keel to their breastbone. Of the 8,600 bird species which exist today, the ostrich is the largest.

Knysna
|
Knysna is one of the most popular towns along the Garden Route and is famous for its endemic sea horse, luscious oysters, carved wood and a lone female elephant who wanders the remaining forests and is sadly the last of a sub species.
