Africa's first Rhino Museum

The Rhino and Waterberg Museum complex in the Northern Province opened at the end of 1998 as the first and only one of its kind in Africa. The aim of the new museum is to improve knowledge and highlight rhino conservation.

Solar energy

In January 1999, President Nelson Mandela switched on the 1st rural solar power unit in Bipha, Eastern Cape. In 1990, only 2,75 million homes in South Africa had access to electricity. 5,8 million (68%) houses had no such convenience. Now 67% have power.
